Capoeira Luanda
Monday 6:45pm - 8:45 pm
Capoeira is many things: a dance, a game, a fight, and a movement-based conversation all in one. Born in the resistance to slavery, Capoeira is accompanied by music, which was done to mask the martial movements as a dance. Using leg sweeps, kicks, graceful escapes, head-attacks, and handstands, Capoeira utilizes deceptive and acrobatic movements together to trick the opponent into vulnerable positions.

Hula Hoop Dancing
Hula hooping has reached a whole new level! Hoop dancing, also known as “hooping,” is a non-impact workout that burns fat, tones your muscles, and renews your energy. Much more than around-the-waist hula hooping, hoop dance incorporates virtually all parts of a dancer’s body. It’s a fun and relatively easy way to stay in shape while also improving your flexibility, coordination, and mood!
What to wear : Form-fitting clothing is preferred for learning body moves, but come dressed in whatever you feel comfortable dancing in. (Dresses, jeans, and baggy sweatpants are not recommended.) Footwear is optional.
What to bring: Something to keep you hydrated!
*Optional – Your own hula hoop (not the toy kind found in most stores)
